Why should you go camping? If you have never gone camping before, here is a list of 10 reasons why you should (at least once in your life). Camping is a GOOD THING. If you have never camped before, this page is for you!
YOU DON’T KNOW IF YOU DON’T TRY IT
Like most things in life, you don’t know if you will like something unless you try it. Stepping out of your comfort zone and experiencing something new and unknown is exhilarating and exciting. A new experience to give you insight, a new adventure in your life’s story.
CAMPING IS VERY EASY
Some people think that camping is hard, but it’s really not. You don’t need much to have a good time camping – a tent, sleeping bag, flashlights, some food, water, and maybe a camp stove. Splurge a little and bring a chair and a board game or deck of cards. Once you’re at your campsite, it just takes a few minutes to set up and then it’s time to relax! Of course your camping trip can become more complicated with the more gear and supplies you bring… but planning a trip is easy. Use our camping guide to plan your next camping trip!
CAMPING WON’T BREAK THE BANK
Camping is affordable. The average cost for camping fees in a state or national park ranges from $10 to $20 a night. Private campgrounds fees vary depending on location and the amenities offered. Camping is the ultimate do-it-yourself adventure. If you travel light, camping is so simple. But the more you get into it, the more expensive it can get.
CAMPING WILL BRING OUT THE BEST (OR WORST) IN YOU
For many people, the idea of camping is daunting – kind of dirty, a little miserable and “not for me”. When you camp, you surround yourself with a) nature b) your family and/or close friends and c) a will for “adventure”. Being away from the comforts of your home and daily routine will ultimately bring out the best in you (you embrace a change of environment and appreciate the great outdoors) or you worst – (you need your regular life back). The choice is yours.
YOU’LL SEE AMAZING PLACES
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but really, some pictures can’t even begin to describe how breathtaking some places are in person. The grandeur of Bryce Canyon or the humbling presence of Yosemite’s Half Dome, to name a couple. Camping allows you to literally experience the world around you – The crackling leaves and sticks beneath your feet. Mosquitoes and flies buzzing in your face. The cool breeze of flowing water. Yep, you can run, but you can’t hide, and half the battle is choosing a place and getting in your car… you’ll be glad you did.
YOU WILL SEE STARS (MAYBE EVEN SHOOTING STARS, SATELLITES, OR SPACE STATIONS)
Most of us live in or near very big cities, we have never actually seen stars. The farther away from civilization you get, the more stars you will see. It’s hard to imagine a sky filled so full with stars that you actually feel like your eyes are going blurry, but go somewhere dark and remote, and your mind will be blown. If it’s dark enough, you’ll even see the milky way. And if you stare long and hard enough, you will probably see a shooting star, a satellite or even a space station!
CAMPING FORCES YOU TO SPEND QUALITY TIME WITH YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS
When you camp you have no where to hide (except maybe in the car or in the tent). It’s the perfect opportunity to spend quality time with your family and friends. A great thing about camping is that you can choose who you will camp with! It’s totally under your control and you can plan your camping trip as quiet or rambunctious as you want.
YOU WILL LEARN SOMETHING
They say you learn something new everyday. Camping is on different. No matter how smart you think you are, you will learn something new with each new camping experience. Whether it be some fun nature facts that you learn from a guide on a hiking tour, or how to cook some down home country camping meals, you will leave your trip with a new insight about yourself and camping.
YOU WILL APPRECIATE YOUR LIFE AS IT IS
When you camp you submit yourself to the will of nature – sleeping in the cold or heat, no running water, no electricity… Camping will renew your appreciation for the conveniences of modern living – unlimited air conditioning and heat, tv and electrical outlets, abundance of food… you don’t think twice about reheating some food in the microwave – but you will when your fire’s gone out!
